SHUT UP!

Don’t you dare question authority.

Don’t you dare question the science.

Don’t you dare speak the truth.

You must shut up or you are labelled a conspiracy theorist or the black sheep or called crazy, and you are cast aside.

Were we born to shut up?

Why are we expected, actually forced, to just accept everything and never question?

Why must Christians be quiet, weak, and timid for others to feel good about themselves?

People are unhappy in the grocery store – they shut up because they don’t want to draw attention to themselves.

Parents are unhappy with something at school – they shut up because they know that the weak-minded teacher will take it out on their child/ren.

People are unhappy with a service – they shut up because they don’t want to offend anyone.

So, in other words, society is really telling us to shut up and that our experiences, thoughts, and feelings have no validation, that they don’t exist.

We eventually start believing this and start living a lie.  We lie to ourselves, and others.  Our self-talk becomes negative because society says we may not feel this or think that.  We start living this mundane life.  Never questioning anything, and believing everything we hear.  In other words, we become these brain-dead sheeple, obediently walking in line, off to the slaughter.

Does God want us to be quiet? 

Does God want us to accept everything we are told in this extremely broken world?

Does God want us to live mundane lives, never achieving anything for His Kingdom?

People have become desensitized to all the evil in the world, playing right into the enemy’s hands.  Murder, abuse, child trafficking, mass murder, rape, our rights being taken away, our freedom of speech – it’s like none of these are even noticed anymore because it happens daily. 

But does that make it okay?  NO!  But when we do speak up, we are again labelled a conspiracy theorist or the black sheep or called crazy, and cast aside.

 Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV)

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

Why do you think people would label you any of the above if you were to question or speak out?

Because you dare to do something, to speak the truth, to ask the tough questions that make weak individuals feel threatened.

We are living in a time where we should be questioning absolutely EVERYTHING!

People seem to be hearing but they aren’t capable of listening.  It reminds me of the story of the frog in boiling water. 

Why does society blindly follow?  Perhaps they are too lazy to do anything, or maybe (a few) feel that they couldn’t possibly make a difference…

I am tired.  I am tired of people wanting me to shut up.  I am tired of people being too scared to speak up.  Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying we should go out guns blazing, shoving our beliefs down others’ throats until they accept or choke. 

What I am saying is: stop being quiet for what you believe in.  Stop being quiet when you see wrong. Speak up in a gentle, loving way but standing firm. 

Sometimes I feel like people think Christians are meant to accept everything and be weak.  That we are not allowed to get angry at the injustice, that we can’t stand up for what is right, or even speak our minds.  Of course we can.  God wants us to speak up for others, He wants us to be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:9). Again, it is not about being rude, or disrespectful.

Choose to become who God made you to be.  He didn’t make a mistake by putting you right where you are, amidst all this global chaos.  You have a purpose – find it.

And never stop questioning.
